Therapy for Chronic Illness

Therapy for Chronic Illness

Living with a chronic illness can impact every part of your life—physically, emotionally, and socially. Whether you’re newly diagnosed, navigating long-term treatment, or adjusting to a “new normal,” therapy can offer a safe, supportive space to process what you’re going through.

What to Expect

  • As a two-time cancer survivor, I bring both professional expertise and personal understanding
  • Support for those newly diagnosed, in long-term treatment, or adjusting to life changes
  • A place where all of your emotions are welcome
  • Practical tools alongside emotional support
  • Help navigating relationships and communication with loved ones during illness

What Happens in a Session

Sessions focus on whatever feels most pressing for you—whether that's processing difficult emotions, developing coping strategies for treatment side effects, navigating relationships affected by your illness, or finding meaning and hope during challenging times. I create a space where you can express the full range of your emotions without judgment.

Duration & Frequency

Sessions are 50 minutes. Frequency and duration of therapy depend on your needs and what you're going through medically. Some clients find short-term support helpful during a particular phase of treatment, while others benefit from ongoing therapy throughout their journey.

Who Is This For?

Individuals navigating chronic health conditions, cancer survivorship, or major medical life changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you understand what it's like to have a chronic illness?

Yes, as a two-time cancer survivor, I have personal experience navigating diagnosis, treatment, and the emotional journey that comes with chronic illness. This gives me a unique perspective that combines professional expertise with genuine empathy and understanding.

Can therapy help with the physical symptoms of my illness?

While therapy doesn't treat physical symptoms directly, research shows that emotional support and stress management can positively impact physical well-being. We can work on coping strategies, relaxation techniques, and processing the emotional aspects of physical symptoms.
